Hmmmmmm….

Bin aktuell beruflich und privat zu eingespannt, um in angemessenem Umfang über die kompletten IRTA Tests in Malaysia zu berichten. Ich beschränke mich daher auf das, was vermutlich die Meisten (und mich) am meisten interessiert: Wie läuft es bei Ducati, wie kommt “Il Dottore” Valentino Rossi mit der Desmosedici GP11 zurecht?

Spannend dürfte das nicht nur für die vielen Rossi-Fans sein, ist doch der Wechsel des Rekordweltmeisters zu Ducati das am wenigsten Vorhersagbare in der MotoGP Saison 2011. Bisher hatten sich ja alle Fahrer – ausgenommen Casey Stoner – an der Ducati mehr oder weniger die Zähne ausgebissen. Am härtesten traf es Marco Melandri, der kilometerweise hinter den Erwartungen zurück geblieben war. Aber auch ein Nicky Hayden konnte ausser einigen Achtungserfolgen nicht an seine früheren Leistungen anknüpfen.

(Als Quelle stütze ich mich vor allem auf die offiziellen Pressemitteilungen von Ducati Corse, ich erlaube mir daher, die Zitate auch im englischen O-Ton zu übernehmen.)

An allen 3 Testtagen blieb das Wetter trocken, sodass man sinnvoll an Setups testen und die Ergebnisse auch vergleichen konnte. Bei Valentino Rossi schaut man parallel zur Umgewöhnung auf die Ducati auch mit Spannung auf den Heilungsverlauf seiner kürzlich erst operierten Schulter. Beides ist nicht abgeschlossen, aber beides scheint auf einem ganz guten Weg zu sein. Für einen der vorderen Plätze hat es am Ende nicht gereicht, aber mit einer 2:01.842 nach 52 gefahrenen Runden und einem Platz 10 kann man in Anbetracht der Umstände wohl ganz zufrieden sein.

Erster Testtag

Rarely have I been this happy with a twelfth place, because after the test at Misano, we were pretty pessimistic considering how bad I felt there. It went better here though, especially in the morning, and we were able to do 20, 25 laps at a decent speed. Although we still have a lot of work to do, but we did a lot today: we worked on the riding position, and we’re starting to understand, among the many details that we can adjust on this bike, what the best solutions are. The Ducati’s DNA doesn’t need to be changed; we have to take advantage of the positive aspects and improve the others. Unfortunately, it became more difficult when I lost a lot of strength in the afternoon, but in the end I was able to do about fifteen more laps. Let’s say that at the moment, I have quite a bit of pain and not much strength, whereas the opposite would be preferable! The hardest parts are the straights and on hard braking into right corners, like Turn 1 and Turn 4; there alone I lose about a second, whereas the rest of the lap is okay, because compared to Valencia, I’m able to ride much better. It will be important to be able to rest well tonight in order to regain some mobility so that I can do 30 or 40 laps tomorrow. I’ll have a relaxing massage and put ice on it.

Ich war gerade dabei, eine Zusammenfassung des heutigen MotoGP Wochenendes zu verfassen als die Info reinkam, dass Shōya Tomizawa (Wikipedia Eintrag deutsch / englisch) heute nach seinem schweren Crash noch im Krankenwagen seinen Verletzungen erlegen ist. Die Zusammenfassung der Rennen an sich spare ich mir dann mal.

Leider kein guter Sommer in den Königsklassen des Motorrad Rennsports – erst Peter Lenz in Indyanapolis, nun Shōya Tomizawa in Misano….

Viel Kraft für seine Familie & Freunde, wenngleich sie wohl nicht zu den Lesern dieses Blogs gehören werden.

Valentino Rossi hatte neben seinem großen Talent auch viel Glück im Laufe seiner Karriere: Kaum ein GP Rennen, wo “Il Dottore” mal aussetzte. Aktuell zeigt er, dass er ebenso irre (im positiven Sinne) ist wie die anderen GP-Fahrer, wenn es um den Umgang mit Schmerzen und Verletzungen ist.

Gestern ist Rossi mit der Superbike WM Yamaha R1 in Misano unterwegs gewesen – nach einer absurd kurzen Verletzungspause für jemanden, der sich gerade den Unterschenkel gebrochen hatte…

Davide Brivio hat das in aller Kürze per Twitter dokumentiert:

Finished test.. 10 + 14 laps. Vale made a good job. Still some pain and now he knows more how to get better… Lap time was not so bad too!

VALENTINO ROSSI COMPLETES TEST AT MISANO

Fiat Yamaha Team rider Valentino Rossi today rode a motorcycle for the first time since breaking his right leg at Mugello on 5th June. He rode a total of 26 laps at Misano on a YZF-R1 WSB machine, provided by the Yamaha World Superbike Team, and recorded a best time of 1′38.200.

Rossi did an initial run of 11 laps at 18.30 CET with a best time of 1′41.000, then a second run of 15 laps at 19.45 CET with a best time of 1′38.200 (unofficial times).

The reigning World Champion was able to ride well but he had some pain in his leg and his shoulder. He will now continue with an updated rehabilitation programme and make a decision within the next week as to whether he will ride at the German Grand Prix at Sachsenring, in ten days time.

“We made this test in order to understand how we must work from here and to see more or less how I can ride the bike,” said Rossi. “The test was positive, because I can at least ride, but there is a lot more to a MotoGP race than to a test like this one. I had some pain in the ankle, the knee and the shoulder, but above all I lacked strength in the shoulder and a bit of movement in the ankle. I would really like to come back at Sachsenring, but it is still too early to say. We still have twelve days and we must wait and see how much we can improve my condition in the next few days. The Superbike today was good and great fun to ride! I really would like to ride at Sachsenring, but we must wait another week before making a decision.”

In diesem Falle lag die Gerüchteküche also doch richtig: Nun hat auch Yamaha Racing bestätigt, dass Valentino Rossi heute in Misano mit einer Yamaha YFZ R1 (eine Maschine des Yamaha World Superbike Teams) einen ersten Test durchführen wird. Man will insbesondere sehen, ob der Doctor nach dem schweren Sturz und seiner Operation schon wieder fit genug ist, um auf ein Motorrad zu steigen.

Man weiss ja selber: Genau die Belastungen vom Motorradfahren kann man schwerlich simulieren – die spürt man eben nur auf der Maschine

Valentino Rossi will ride a Yamaha YZF-R1 at a private test in Misano, Italy this afternoon. The Italian has made an excellent recovery so far since breaking his leg at Mugello on 5th June and he has decided to proceed with the test ride today in order to better understand his current physical condition. Riding a racing motorcycle will help Valentino and his doctors to plan the next stage of his rehabilitation programme in order that he may return to racing as soon as he feels confident to do so.

The test will take place using a YZF-R1 WSB machine provided by the Yamaha World Superbike Team to the Fiat Yamaha Team. Yamaha will inform the media later today of the results of the test and of Valentino’s condition.
